GTA 6 has been announced for consoles, but an ex-developer from Rockstar is holding out the prospect of a PC release. He also reveals why PC ports are being released so much later.
Rockstar Games has finally unveiled GTA 6 in a first trailer and the gaming world is thrilled. However, there is little joy among PC gamers, as Rockstar has so far only announced the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
However, many assume that Rockstar will also release GTA 6 for PC at a later date. Former Rockstar Games developer and YouTuber “York Reacts” is also talking about this.
According to him, Rockstar would rather focus on what sells well, referring in particular to PlayStation as the top platform for many sales.
Another main reason is that the developers want to publish the game for PC as well as possible and that takes time. Among other things, the studio also has to eliminate many bugs that accumulate. Of course, it can also integrate new content or make optimizations such as better effects.
Rockstar also has to take into account the possible hardware differences between computers for a PC version. Players can set up their computers very differently, while the hardware is always the same for consoles.
Rockstar has not yet confirmed GTA 6 for PC, but York Reacts strongly assumes that it will, as many PlayStation titles are now also being released for the computer, especially big titles, and probably no game will be more important than this one.
GTA 5 was originally released in 2023 for PS3 and Xbox 360. Rockstar Games added a PC version in 2015.
